Unfortunately, I always hoped it would be mine, but it looked phenominal. Did anyone else see it? Overhaulin' and West Coast Customs, that's one hell of a car. Some people have all the luck. Though it has given me some ideas on what to do on mine.

Nice job. They had the "pimp my ride" boys working on it (paint and) Apparently Foose had a 69' coupe he had to sell to pay for college. You figure he would find his way into another one via the heartstrings. Wonder what happened to the original Foose Firebird? By the way Jim, they mentioned "on-off" firebird at the end of the show One thing i see now is that the show, no matter if you like what he did to the car or not (i think it was a pretty relaxed overhaul)has given the FGF major exposure.

I was going to post the same thing last night... but just didn't have the energy to get back on the computer... but also thought it was a great overhaul! They could have had more tuning time if they didn't have the Tranny/crank issues...
But I'm sure they make sure they help with any bugs, and get it tuned and running sweet after all is said and done! With Chip iunvolved, I'm sure it's a class act all the way, and I'm sure they follow up!
I'll have to double check our local (Seattle) Roadster Show coming up in March to see if the bird is one of the cars on the list to be on display from Overhaulin? I'd love to see this one up close and personal!
Brett - 67 Drop Top 455! (wanting to be overhauled!)
I had a call from Andy telling me about it , and ten minutes left! but it was to show again at 10...didnt get time to see it ,but hope Andy taped it! He said it was good...
but on another note I got a dvd from Goran yesterday with the original "gone in 60 secs"...hope to watch this weekend..
I saw it as well. I kept switching back and forth from the Barrett Jackson auction.
I really liked the fact that they rebuild the existing 400 block instead of just replacing the entire motor. It seems they usually just go with a Chevy crate motor. Hopefully they gave the guy the option to keep any of the old parts that were on the car, since they said it was numbers matching.
As stated already, it was a mild overhaul by Chip Foose standards and was glad to see that. It probably had to do with the fact he had personally owned one in the past. I agree that this is good exposure for the birds'.
I only wish they had done a '68.
I wonder how they calculate taxes for it?

I saw it too, Taped most of it (missed the first few minutes.) I can't say I really liked the color but overall it was a NICE job. Wanted to see how they put in the stereo but they really didn't show much of it.
My wife put mine in for the show last fall when they were looking all over the country for cars. Guess I didn't get picked.
-=>Lee<=- Due to budget constraints the "light at the end of the tunnel" has been turned off!
The only thing that left me wondering was the hood tach? They didn't re use it? I was sure I saw it had a hood tach on the original rusty 400 hood?
Yeah, I bet it's hard to do THAT much work, and get it all edited to fit into one show... and still show everything. They just flashed the Stereo deck for a sec. But the trunk enclosure for the subs/amp was sweet! Dropped right in the runk, and coverd the floor, but still was a usable trunk space etc... I'd like to get ahold of them and have them make me a drop in unit! Lol...
The exposure was great, but did anyone else get the feeling that this guy had something to do with his car getting Overhauled? It seemed to me that the team might have know or figured this out, because it didn't seem like they were giving their all on this build. Yes, they did a Great Job on the Bird, but I have seen cars in worse shape on the show get much more detailed work done to them. The last GTO they did, had much more detail done to it, especially in the engine area, (A New Butler Engine was installed in that car.) Something just didn't seem right with this build. Also, did anyone else pick up on how quick the girlfriend was to answer Chips first question about what her boyfriend wanted done to the car. "STOCK." It would have seemed to me that if she ever whatched the show she would know that it's not a classic restoration show. It sounded like an answer that might have been rehearsed. (?) Mabey it's just me. (?) Either way, another Bird has been saved, and this guy got an awesome machine.
One glaring problem I saw was they sent the entire car out for media blasting with the subframe on, brought it back and then removed the subframe for powder coating. You could see the rust in the area they could not hit while it was attached to the car. I'm sure the frame got blasted where needed, but I bet not under the car.

Wonder if he'll ever show up here One thing that gets me is if you need to pay taxes on said prize for these shows and lets they say amount to 15-20K on some of them...HOW IN THE HELL DOES/CAN THE INSIDER APPROVE THIS WITHOUT CONSULTING THE OWNER? Sometimes it's a friend doing it for a well deserving buddy.I've always believed these shows to be a farce because of that and people making up crap to get on the show. People that can afford to pay that kind of money straight up do not need to be overhauled by Foose. These guys can pony up the $ to get it done there, they can pony up the $ to do it elsewere. Am i envious...HELL YES! Maybe because i see many of us here that have struggled to get their cars done. **** i haven't driven mine for 9 years now and when i'm done i'll still just have a half assed car at best because of my financial situation. That guy said it was like winning the lottery. Well when you can afford to buy $15K worth of tickets i guess your chances are increased. One thing i can say is when someone does say nice car to me i can feel somewhat proud that i did it myself. Nice car Foose but they should work it out somehow for the real average Joe that can't get it done.

I thought it came out great considering that they usually stick a chevy crate engine in the cars and paint them with multiple color schemes. I like that they rebuilt the numbers matching engine (except for the Edelbrock heads) and kept the car fairly stock looking. I did notice that they put a 9" Ford under it.
I really like the color. Reminds me a little of the silver blue from the mid 60's Vettes. Now that I've seen a similar color on a bird, I might have to rethink my color choice.
The hood tach delete was most likely for symetry purposes.

I missed it. Does anyone know if or when it will be re-aired or where some pictures might be posted? I would like to at least see what ya'll are talking about.
Why would he have to pay a tax? He's not given a car. Its his car redone. Maybe I'm missing something? You win a car on a gameshow you pay a tax. But why here?
They aired the 1967 GTO Overhaulin' right after the replay of the bird here in TX 12midnight and 1am last night. Recorded them and watched just now.
The overhaul itself is considered a prize. You pay the taxes on the parts or something like that. It's no freebie. On another forum it was estimated at $15-20K the mark has to pay out or whoever sets it up.
