Hello fellow Pontiac friends. I had a 1989 Formula stolen from the New Orleans area (non-flood) shortly after Katrina hit. It has been recovered in the Atlanta area. It is currently at a tow yard. I want to go pick it up, but the yard is not very helpful in assessing the car's current state. I'm looking for a kind Pontiac oriented soul in the Atlanta area who is willing to go and assess the vehicle for me. If you can help me out, please PM or email me at firechiken@charter.net.
Unfortunately in cases like this - assume the worst. I.e., make a reservation for a car carrier trailer and bring a come-along or electric winch, tie down straps and wheel chocks.

So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. Agreed. My car went into an impound yard driveable and in good condition, and came out stripped of seats, console, shifter, and four wheels and tires, plus a broken column and a punched out door and trunk lock. And that was after only one week.
Borrow wheels and tires, too...donut spares are fine, mismatched are fine. Just enough to get it on the trailer. You won't be driving home.

Thanks for the input. That's why I'm looking for someone in the Atlanta area to go assess it for me. I'm really on the fence whether I'm going to go get it or not. Right now, I'm leaning toward letting it go. It's not worth a ton of money anyway.
Bjorn, Thanks for the advise. I've got the same post up on PY and haven't gotten much response yet.
As for Scott and Greg, I don't know either of them. But I'd love to talk with both of them. I'm in the search for a good body man in the area and they may be able to help. What are their screen names?
Matt, Gregs screen name is "Gregs Garage",find it on this post web page on this site and PM him..... I have Scotts email for you, he`s not often on this site so try this: cscottfergus@earthlink.net or (985) 727-9728 hm, (504) 728-6823 ofc
Just logging in and I would like to help if I can,I'm 15 minutes west of Atlanta.PM me all the info. needed to see it.Maybe I can get some pictures of it.
Matt, as B mentioned, I'm in Mandeville also. I live just off of the west end Sharp Road.
It would be great to have a fellow FGF'r as a neighbor. I intend to be at the Block Party Friday 5/26/06 in Covington. Look for the Bronze Bird.(see below link)
I know a good body shop, and one REALLY good body shop. Looking forward to hearing from you...
Hey Greg, I'm off Sharp as well. In Westwood to be exact. I wasn't planning on the block party, but I might be able to make it out there for a little while. I'll see you tomorrow night.
Sorry guys. Just got home. Took the day off to work on my 'bird. Rebuilt the carb(under professional supervision...fun!)Unfortunately, the 'bird will be in the shop a while, waiting for a new radiator. Will probably do a cam change while she's down.
Not going to be able to get with ya'll tonight. The block party is the last Friday of every month...on Columbia St. Usually about 75 cars show up. There was a beatiful blue '69 bird last month. Was that you Matt? Any way, my cell is 504-616-5983. give me a shout if you're out cruising around. We can start our local club...The Northshore F'ers!!!
I'm a hobbyist. Not a professional. Don't be hatin'!
OK, first some updates to the '89. I recovered the car this past Saturday. Many thanks to Roderick for going over to the yard and assessing it for me. Based on his input, I decided to drive to Atlanta and get the car. And he was dead-on. Thanks again, Rod.
I talked with Scott and met up with him and his family Friday night. Bjorn, thanks for the hookup.
Greg, As you mentioned in your last post, you weren't there. No big deal. Let me know if you need help on your Bird. I'm around the corner and can come and turn a wrench whenever you need. And no, I currently don't have a first gen right now. I'm restoring a '70 Formula, and will be selling the '89 shortly.
Bjorn, Do I qualify as a Musketeer? I am currently First Gen-less and may be considered something of a heretic on this board, seeing as I'm restoring a Second Gen car right now and trying to get out of a Third Gen. Maybe I'm half a Musketeer since the '70 Formula is a project solely with the intent of generating enough cash to get another '69 convertible ;-). Whaddaya think?
