i'm in the process of looking for a stock exhaust system that I can install. does anybody know of a good reputable company? I was thinking of stainless. what do you think?

Gardner Exhaust sells an exact copy of stock system and it is supposed to fit up perfectly without any tweaking. It may be a bit pricey but then you'd be saving muffler shop labor.

I installed it with a little help from a friend. My only complaint is that it's factory-quiet! When I have the car in better shape I'll probably up the noise a bit.

thanks, but I think I'm going stainless. I could use a set of original splitters out the back. they are on my list with the exhaust set up.

I just bought a stainless dual exhaust from Ram Air Restoration (RARE). It is 304 stainless with stainless mufflers as well, I decided to go with 2 1/2" and it has been great (orig. is 2 1/4). Since I have a convertible with the cross brace, I could not do a cross-over without shimming the X-brace down which will weaken stiffness. This system is not true original set-up with the transverse muffler.
Also offering original set-ups was Classic Exhaust, they advertise in Hemmings. Hope that helps.

just dropped 1300 on mine today. these guys(gardener) are on top of it. good customer service. I went stainless concours package with splitters. 1300 is high but I went all out and shipping was the kicker. can't wait for the parts!!! still have to paint and some more parts to go. never ends...

Does anyone have experience with Classic Exhaust in Ohio. For an aluminized system with resonators for a 350 convertible with stock manifolds, they are quoting $400 plus shipping. Gardner is quoting $660 (they include original type clamps).

I've seen the Gardner system on a couple of '69s. They are correct! Worth the price IMO. I had to have the exhaust system on my cammer custom made by a shop in Troy, OH. To late for me to call Classic Exhaust to see if they have one. I'll be going with a Pypes system for the convertible.

Hmm, they are only a half hour from me. I will have to remember this.
