Does the metal fuel line that goes across the crossmember to the fuel pump on a 68 400 car run in front of the crossmember or behind it? My guess is that it runs in front (there is a clip there that I believe holds it to the crossmember), yet if it is in front, how does it get from the metal line on the frame rail to the metal crossmember line? I am thinking that I have to use a rubber hose to connect the two, and I am wondering, does it go over the control arm, under it, or next to it (scary, too close to the header)? I am trying to make my car as original as possible. strickman Red 68 400 4spd car in online car show from Pittsburg, Ca.
I would think you would have both. My 400HO has both a fuel line and a vapor/return line from the fuel pump to the tank. One runs in front of the cross-member and one behind. I cannot remember the which is which.
Here's a diagram in the Parts Illustrations Book (about 1/2 way down and on the bottom left of the fuel line illustrations) that shows the lines and the hose sections. http://1968firebird.org/illustrated/carb/carb1.html
And there is a short piece of rubber hose that connects the section on the crossmember to the line on the frame rail, just below and behind the control arm.
In my office chair now...Hey, when you come to a almost complete stop at the bridge, may as well do something....wouldn't think of brousing while in motion
