Subject: Kickdown for 350TH on 68 Fbird I recently swapped my powerglide for a 350TH in my 68 convertible. Im at a loss as far as kickdown cable. Im looking for help with instructions on proper hook up of detent cable. including p/n, bracket(s) required ect. A-body hooks to accelerator pedal, Fbody hooks to carb linkage? Ive been seraching but not much help for pontiacs... Shop manual does not give enough detail. Any help is appreciated. Thank You GTO_DT@Yahoo.com
I still haven't had the chance to do my swap. But my TH350 came with the kickdown cable. I bought a universal throttle/kickdown bracket from parts store. Made by Spectre part # 2428.
Says: universal throttle cable bracket with A/T kickdown cable bracket fits all 2bbl and 4bbl carburetors
Like I said, it should work fine, but I haven't done it yet. Let us know if you get it done before me. Or if I get aorund to it, I post back
Anyone know how this "Spectre Universal Throttle Cable Bracket" worked out? I am looking to buy that sam thing, and and hoping to get something that will work correctly soon.
Looks like my car has the wrong bracket right now, and the kickdown CABLE (not switch, 350 car) is just not in use untill I get something that will work with the throttle cable and kickdown cable BOTH.
I am looking at this or AMES has some parts in thier cataloge that looks like they may work ok.
Ames parts FN385S and FN386D I think. I have a non original 4BL QJ carb.
I have a TH400 and emabarassed to say what I spent on for a 40 year old switch. I TH 350 switch from Ames is a good bet. Ames has not so far disappointed me on products.
Yea I guess because I have a TH350 so it does not have a switch, it is a cable hooked to my transmision, I just need the correct bracket that holds the kickdown cable as well as the throttle. I guess it would look like this? http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i78/brettNheather/06%20All%20Pontiac%20Show/100_0576.jpg There is no switch Found that picture in a old post, thanks to 1stgenbirdman The AMES parts dont really look like that on in that picture to me though.
