Hi Everyone - I'm currently in the process of building up my motor on my stock automatic TH350 1969 2bbl 350 V8 and wanted to know if I'm on the right track with my decisions - any advice would be welcomed, especially if I'm doing something wrong This what I'm planning:
Carb - Rochester # 7029268 for Automatic Transmission.
Intake - 4bbl Pontiac intake #9794234 for Automatic Transmission.
Cam - Summit 2800 204 int./214 exh. duration at 050 inch Lift: or maybe COMP cam CCA-51-220-4 206 int./212 exh. duration at 050 inch lift
Heads - Pontiac # 48 or 16 heads -not sure which to use here and if it either makes a difference when bolting up on a Automatic 350 – I’ve been told that heads off a 4spd car won’t work on an automatic..not sure if that’s true or not.
Distributor - MSD
Any advice or suggestions on the above mentioned mods are welcome and appreciated.
I don't know of any reason why the heads would be an issue, but I do believe the gereral philosophy is that if you are looking for a torkey-horse, its a 400 (or more) you might want to start with. Have you already sourced the intake, carb, and heads?

Make sure the head(s) have a tapped boss for the trans dip stick tube for attachment of? Or does the trans dip stick attach to the trans bell housing? Help me out auto trans owners. With my two, I have gears to stir.
Well I'm assuming that since the # 48 heads came on 4spd standard cars there would be no tapped boss for the trans dip stick tube...oh man so will there be a problem when bolting on the # 48 heads as far as trans dip stick goes - is this tapped boss something i can remove off my stock #47 heads on the car right now??
It's a hole with threads...can't remove it from your old one, but you can make it on your new one. Look at the top of your dipstick tube, follow it down to the bracket, see where it attaches.
