The drawback with vintage (from Minnesota) was that they used to have three year plates. So my '68 plates are stamped 1968, but for '67, you would have a 1965 plate with a red 1967 sticker. So I didn't much care for that.
We have that now in Alberta, but back then each year was a different plate.

You can buy them on EBay ,antique stores etc., then you get them approved by DMV.
I bought mine this way, but I guess I can't get them approved / re-registered.
