I figure I'd combine 2 subjects since my questions are electrically related.
1) I picked up a rebuilt HEI distributor and am converting the car from the Points Type Ignition. I've read the archives and just want to confirm. All I need to do is trace the Positive (+) wire on the coil to the fuse block, replace that wire with a 12 gauge wire, and hook the new wire to "BATT" terminal on the HEI. Hook the "TACH" wire on the HEI to the tach. Done deal?
2) I picked up a 100 amp 1-wire alternator. I've read other sites on line as far as the connection. Most say to hook a 10 gauge wire directly to the Positive (+) terminal on the battery or the Battery terminal on the starter. Which is the better option? Now some are also mentioning putting a fuseable link in between the Alternator and the Positive (+) terminal. Is this correct and if so, what amp fuse?
3) Since I now have an internal regulator in both of these systems, do I disconnect ALL the wires from the old Voltage Regulator on the firewall and chuck it? Shall I just leave the old unsused wires tucked away on the harness?
