Faxes were just starting to see more widespread use in the late '60's.
Been a while but I remember rolling a sheet of paper up onto a drum, loading it in the FAX machine, calling the receiving party to have them get their machine ready, dialing, and then letting it spin and transmit for something like 2 or 6 minutes depending on the resolution wanted.
At the same time, we were amazed by the technology.
