The transmission is a th350. It had been rebuilt by previous owner, so my restoration approach has been leave the drivetrain intact, and wait till I break it, then tackle the innermost components. Im curious how you made the observation of the car having an overdrive tranny? I am a residential contractor most days, and am building this car myself with little to no training, so the little nuances of engine building are interesting to me. Please advise
The intake is indeed the rpm from edelbrock, with the enderoshine finish. A friend of mine says I wont like the way the holley dbl pmp runs the car, but I sure think it looks cool up there with the colored metering blocks. I have read the book by visards on the carb and excited to make an attempt at tuning. The local auto supply runs a small tuning lab out back. I understand they have a machine that sampels the exhaust and helps let you know whats going on in there.
The air cleaner I ordered through Spectre, and it came with a drop base. It is snug under there, but I was able to close the hood without any modifications. I sent the hood inserts out for plating..all the pictures of any first generation bird I have seen, not a single one has chrome hood inserts. I might be the first. It took the platers a few tries to get then right, so they are also the most expensive hood inserts..ever.
Thank you for your interest, and I appreciate your response to this, and previous posts of mine. Thank you usmcordy for your service to our country, and helping make this a place the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
Hey, thanks for the thanks and I appreciate it. I thought you may have an OD transmission because of the cable (looked like the TV cable for an OD transmission) to the transmission looks exactly like mine. It is a LOKAR setup for my OD trans. I didn't know the TH350 could use the same thing. The reason I also asked about your air cleaner is because I wanted to get the same cleaner but didn't know if the drop base would actually work with my Holley carb and Performer RPM manifold. I know you said yours was an RPM manifold, but is it the Performer RPM? Just want to make sure before I go out and buy the air cleaner since there is a height difference between the RPM and the Performer RPM. Would like to see pics of your scoops on the hood when you get some. Thanks for sharing the pics and please post more if you can. Oh one last question,... where are you from in central Oregon? I ask because I grew up in Gresham Oregon and left when I joined the Marine Corps back in 1981 and most my family still lives in Portland area and my daughter and lives in Eugene and I go back there once every couple of years, matter of fact I am going there this year in August for a family reunion.
