I have a co-worker in another state who is the technical representative for the company I work for. His customer (our customer) has a good friend that has a bunch of old cars in a hangar in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, he is looking to get rid of one of them nd I told him I wa interested in it. Here is what I know:

1970 Chevelle SS (real)
454 (Original, numbers matching)
4-speed (Original, numbers matching)
unmolested car, original everything. A small amount of rust at the RH rear quarter. The rest of the car is rust free with original paint, interior. I don't know colors or any other options yet. I am calling tomorrow to talk to the owner.

Curious what your opinions are for a ballpark $$. I have an idea but would like some feedback.

Ed

Chevelles get top dollar from what I've seen. Very popular and sought after car. 454 4-speed L5 or L6 could easily be $25k+

Pffffft! Try more like $75 to $125 K for LS6's in nice shape. A quick internet search showed an extreme low milage (8,700 miles) garage queen for $185 K

Really rare 'verts push a 1/4 million.

Exactly!!! wink

Just checking if anyone was paying attention. I will post price once I talk to the owner and make my decision. This will be a long process and will require at least one plane ride but I am being told the price is very right. Please wish me luck. I am very excited about the possibilty of owning this vehicle.

Based on originality alone, I think you are over 50K even if not an LS6. Very sought after.

Depends on condition but you could easily pay at least 25K (and probably more) for something that is an ok driver that needs work.

As Dam says, 70 Chevelles, like 69 Camaros and 70 Mustangs, are part of that small group of cars that everyone knows and what gets top dollar, though I'd take a Buick Stage 1 over a Chevelle any day.
