Has anyone here installed the rear speaker enclosure? I have a few questions for some that has.
The repop does not match my bottom holes at all. So I'm a little confused with the bottom lip. Does it turn up and under or turn out from the enclosure.
If the bottom lip turns up under the enclosure, that would mean that the bottom screws would have to go in first, then install the speaker on the enclosure and then install the top screws. Bottom screws not seen.
If the bottom lip turns out from under, the speaker can be installed and then attach the enclosure. Bottom screw can be seen.
Here are a couple pictures. Does anyone have a clue?
Based on the metal originals I found (out of a '68 "Maro) I'd say the lip goes down. Sorry, I wasn't about to put a cardboard frame back there. Here are some picts I took:

And yes, they are 100% worthless in a 'vert with the top down.

I made some out of 3/8 plywood that attach without drilling any holes. Plus they allow the use of newer speakers and yet will use the old grills. I will try to take a picture. The cardboard ones to me were useless. BTW if anyone wants a free pair of the cardboard ones, pay for shipping and they are yours.
I think I made patterns before I installed it. I will have to dig.

Hey I thought you were all about originality? What happen?
No way I was going to put cardboard back there. I can't believe Pontiac did that back then.
These cars were built for 10 year life cycles. Look how well that worked out...

I hear you. Those metal ones you found, those were not original in the Camaros were they? Were they home made ones. I know a guy the has a computer ran plasma cutter. He could make a boxes easy I think. I'll email him with a pic and see.
So the first two photos of the cardboard ones. It looks like the bottom is turned out. I take those were repro ones?
Studying this picture it appears it is turned under doesn't? I should be getting the speaker any time now and maybe I'll be able to tell when I have a speaker to work with. It may be to awkward to install with the lip turned back under it.
I studied those same diagrams until my face was blue, and nothing lined up or made sense.
I lined up the metal housing, and the eixisting bolt holes were really close!
But the housing sits a few inches below the top lip of the seatback frame, not like those diagrams show.
I would agree the bottom lip in the sketch seems to be pointing 'up'.
The pictures of the paper housing were ones I found on the web somewhere. They were not from my car.

Interesting pict Gus. What book is that out of? It has been confirmed that '67-'68 'birds could only come with one rear speaker as an option as the power level of the stock radio would only power two speakers total.
That's also why the woring diagrams only show one rear speaker.
There was a huge debate about this on PY about a year ago when I was researching for my 4 speed.

Your posting shows the type of enclosure I am trying to locate? any idea where...As I wrote the ones online don't reflect this. My convertible has a fixed rear seat if that matters.

Thank You Again,

I cannot track down any more like that. Npd did have them but I looks like they are no longer available.
