Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and will introduce myself under separate cover shortly. I recently acquired a '67 Firebird and am real excited about it. It was a great runner, but the motor spun a bearing in the spring and I took the opportunity to put a 461 stroker in it. The challenge I'm facing however is that the taller valve covers, which are needed to clear the roller rocker girdles, are in the way of me installing my wiper motor.
I'd prefer not to do much fabrication on the firewall as the car is painted, albeit not show quality, and would appreciate any insights from this forum. Has anyone faced this before? Is there an alternative approach that's been used?
Thanks,
Joe

I'm not sure how tall your tall valve covers are, but I have a set of tall Moroso chrome valve-covers on mine, and while its a complete PITA to get the driver's side on and off, it does fit with some patience.

Thanks for your feedback on it. It was at the end of my 2nd 18 hour day working on the car when I made the decision that they didn't fit, so maybe i need to revisit that again. I also have tall Morosos. Here's a pic: https://mustaribrand.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/photo.jpg?w=1145

I believe Detroit Speed makes a smaller, modern wiper motor that fits FGF's
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI

NPD lists that same part in their catalog as well, since Detroit Speed is out-of-stock.

Has anyone here used one of those wiper motor kits? Curious, if the switch mounts in the existing wiper switch location without looking to messed up??? Also, not trying to change the subject here, but almost looks like you will also have a hood clearence problem if you have a sotck hood, unless you use a drop base air filter.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Yeah, that solution looks awesome, but I'm not really that stoked about spending $550 on a wiper motor if I can help it. I did find this thread about someone throwing an '89 blazer wiper motor in their first gen Camaro. Maybe this could be an alternate path? http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=127854
