OK so I have a 69 Firebird and finally got the 69 Trans Am spoiler on the back. I understand I need to buy a special torsion bar for that spoiler due to the weight. I went ahead and bought the torsion bar and now I understand a special tool is required to install it. Does anybody know what this tool is and where I can find it? Anybody else have any experience doing this? Thx!

Check your '69 Body By Fisher manual if you have one. The '68 manual (Section 8 - Rear Compartment Lid) shows the GM "F" bodies' tool is a piece of 1/4" ID pipe. Is your new TA torsion rod a different OD then the standard?
I was responding to your question about a special tool, mentioning the 1/4' ID pipe used for the standard rod. If the diameter of the TA rod is more, a different pipe might be needed.
Thank you again Jim!! I just thought I would show what it is. I believe the diameter is the same but a little different design, but am not sure. what you sent on the tool is very helpful!!!

I have my factory trunk rods on mine still, with the TA wing, it stays open just fine. I think I might have put the rod in the notch to make it a little stronger, I think there are a couple of different adjustment notches to adjust different tensions
