OK we are talking about mono-leaf springs.
been seeing in alot of different catalog were you can convert a mono-leaf rear end to a multi-leaf, i need new springs anyway. so here go's
1 Has anyone tried these conversion kit on a mono rear-end?
2 Did it work/ Did it hold up? ( will be hooked up to 400/400 w/shift kit and 2000 stall)
3 Who is a good supplier ( quaility parts a must )

Eaton Springs (Detroit) are the best springs. They will tailor-make any spring you need and they will fit the car perfectly. You will need different mounting hardware over the axle. I believe the perches are the same, but one of the others will know for sure.

thanks for the info "Q" OK but has anybody out there done this to their FB yet? i dont want to do all of this and find out later that it want hold up to heavy foot take-offs!  or do i stick with the mono and add track bars? :rolleyes: thanks again jerry

I changed from mono to mulit leafs on my 67 bird a while ago. The perches are different. I had a spacer made so I wouldn't have to change my perches. Wasn't exactly proper and made locating the sprongs a pain. I'd check into putting the correct perches on your rearend.Just my .02.

I have a '68 rearend housing that has the perches still on it I would give you if you pick up or pay shipping. Would need to be cut off & welded on your rearend. Steve

I have been looking at doing this myself. A couple of options not mentioned were the 3-leaf mono replacement springs. JCWhitneys and others carry them. Upgrading to an 8.5 rear-end out of a 73-79 Nova is an option as well, stronger, parts cheaper and same width. Besides the springs, is changing to the different shock mounting location from 67 to 68 & later..

I was waiting for that answer Tom... should have known... either you, Quenton or Bjorn....
I'd got with Q's suggestion, have a replacement set made by Eaton, and you'll be almost as good as multi leaf, but better than new! And no pearch problems...
that seems like the easiest way out.
