Yes, have one on a '68 400 right now.

If you have a flat hood, beware of clearance, it's a TALL manifold.

I have the 400 hood. So the HEi distributor will clear the intake OK? What type of air cleaner did you have to go with? Will the basic round aftermarket sandwich type work? Thanks! Dave

I cannot answer with certainty that your HEI will fit because I have the MSD ready to run which I believe is a bit smaller.
But the MSD fits beautifully. I have the 3 inch regular sandwich type air cleaner. I have not permanently mounted the air cleaner since I am still working on the engine but during mock up the hood closed without hitting. I was lucky because i have open hood scoops, I was able to watch the hood go down to check if everything would fit.

Hei fits fine with RPM intake.
Check my picture post. There may be a shot of it.
If not, will take one.
Need to upload more pic's this weekend any way.

Have a 14" dia with a 1.5" drop base(cheapy) a/clnr.
Still have 1/4"-1/2" clearance to hood.

ok, quick update. I fit the air cleaner on the carb last night after I set up the throttle linkages. The air cleaner that I have (14" drop base) clears the hood but will not work with a Holley 750 DP. The throttle arm on the carb hits the base of the air cleaner. I may try a 3/4 spacer and a 2" filter element. I will update when I figure it out.

Rotate the air cleaner so that the indentation for the breather tube is in the throttle arm area. You may still need a small spacer.

Or "create" an indent like Vikki points out, if your lower assembly pan is a generic brand. You can modify one of those to work fine. Just a bit of hammer tapping and alignment.

Quick update:
The 14" round air filter with 3" element DOES fit. You must get a dropped base however. My throttle return springs and spring bracket were hitting the base and not allowing full throttle arm movement. I just flipped the spring bracket and everything is great. Dave, you will find that the stock throttle bracket will not work without modifying it. I used this http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_86840_-1 and it works great. You just need to change the springs because the ones that come with it are way too strong. Hope this helps
