I agree with JM as well. But do have a backup plan if you can, or be prepared to go without a job if necessary until you secure one. I am now managing IT in a large call center, and I have to make the decisions on what is most important. And in the end, the most important tasks, menial as they may be, are the ones that keep the customer satisfied.
If you cannot immediately line up a job, you have to make the choice as to which is worse for your health, family and sanity, keeping your job or being without one.
You could also take in interim job to pay the bills while looking for something more suitable. If you can afford it, COBRA will allow you to keep your insurance for a while.
